Hi people! Thought I'd put together a little(ish) thread to display my Guard army. The basic background to the army is that they were originally the 16th Company of the 1st Regiment of the Zion Rifles - these guys come from a world which is quite capable technology wise in that they have quite stable ways to produce and maintain plasma weaponry. They enjoy a world that is as close to paradise as can be in the 41st Millenium, rivaling that of Ultramar - the downside of this is that there is a huge unstable Eldar Warp gate at the centre of their capital city through which they get Chaos incursions. This came to the attention of my Inquisitor (Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Lord Gabriel Lupus) who requisitioned this company to be his personal taskforce - the Ghostmakers. First off we have the command squad: The Elites choices, Ratlings: Stormtroopers: The Troops choices, Red Platoon: Blue Platoon: Veteran Squad one: Veteran Squad two: Fast Attack, "Hotdog" 1st Hellhound: "Lucky 13" 2nd Hellhound: Sentinel Squadron: Heavy Support Demolishers, "Pac-Man", "Daisy" and "Tinkerbell" I'll post the Super heavies later... hope you like!

Plasma in platoons? Your a brave man... and coincidentally an inventive one. Those hellhounds look excellent, great job on em. I also love the backwards russ. I thought about doin' that, but ended up thinking it would look to odd. It doesn't, looks fantastic.

Wow... thanks for all the replies and compliments guys!... where do I start... @colonel-Commissar - as CaptainHindenburg says, it's just the track sections that are reversed. Someone suggested making a "dragster" Leman Russ... bad idea to suggest things to me ;-) (hence my "Jedi Inquisitor") sgtNACHO - If you liked the Pac-man one, you should check out the "Tinkerbell" one ;-), I'll get a closer up pic uploaded later... nilkimas - Yep! completely theived the idea from Stargate ;-). It's also the source of the "homeworld symbol @cadian 117 - People at GW HQ warned me of the same thing when I started the army, but I think it works nicely. Grey and Black really doesn't have to be boring - thanks for your support! @mycroft - originally I was going to stay with really "mundane" weaponry (flamers, grenade launchers, snipers) but then I thought why not have their homeworld (Zion) be somehow specialised in Plasma tech... how to represent that? Plasma in platoons! Also the homemade "shotguns" that the Catachan vets have are "Plasma Oscillating Pulse" rifles (or POP-guns for short!) Baneblade "Ghal-Maraz": Baneblade "Excalibur" (based on "Tank Girl"): 3rd Baneblade will be done as soon as I'm back on my feet (mean medicae operating on my leg )

I love those baneblades. Excellent work, those card players are just hilarious. And a girl on a tank with a BBQ, fantasies much?
Stargate is a great scource, my greatest addiction in fact, so I applaud you.

It wasn't that hard - the two gys sticking out of the turret are from the baneblade kit, and the guy on the back (the one in grey) is just a normal imperial Guardsman with the walking legs. I just cut down the join a little till he got into more of a sitting pose.
The hands are simply the hands from lasguns/laspistols. To make the cards themselves, I just cut some paper to (drawing outline in pencil first), then superglued the "cards" to the hands. The trick is to remember that part of the cards will be covered by the hands holding them, and to cut them to the right shape to fit "round" the hand.
Finally, the "rest of the deck" left on the turret was just an off cut of flash from a metal model.

Well the good news is that I've managed to finish modelling the 3rd Baneblade... The bad news: 1) I'm still struggling to get about a bit (medics have finally admitted they don't know what's wrong... and are increasing the strength of the pain meds... ) 2) school has reopened so I have to get all the childerbeasts off to school and nursery 3) I've run out of wine, beer, and the whiskey levels are getting dangerously low I do promise forthcoming positive updates soon though! The Baneblade company WILL be completed!

Cheers stillanoob!
Feel free to steal the idea for the different coloured trims - I use it as one of the ways to identify different platoons.

Hmm... well, it could be used to identify different squads... Squad one = red trim, Squad two = green trim, etc I do cheat a little bit when I'm identifying the platoons/squads though All the squads have a unique number identifying their place in the regiment (that was fun to work out ), and as mentioned there is the trim to identify the platoon they are in. There's also a coloured dot on their left shoulder pad (part of the army symbol), which is used to identify the squad in the palatoon as well. But to make it simple for me on the tabletop, I just have two lines of colour on the back of the base - one is the platoon, the other is the squad! makes it very easy for me to see which models are from which squad from my side of the table

How did you work out the number for each squad? i like a challenge Also i forgot to mention how awsome the Super Heavies are. Extremely drool worthy. Now if you'll excuse me i needa find a towel.
