I doubt they will be 15 points. That's only one less than a marine, which is clearly supperior is several categories ( i.e WS, S, T, Sv, I, gun strength) I'm going to make a case for twelve a peice though:
The Codex as a whole is expected to see a point drop, and the stormtroopers, by the apparent new rules, will lose a point of Ld. and 6' of range, but gain the option for a kickass transport ( though the points for that should not be in the cost of the troops themselves.) all this means to me that ordinarily, they'll come in at about 7 each. this will make 3 points more than a normal squadie, as opposed to four more in the current dex. AP3 weaponry, however, is worth a lot, even at only S3. 5 points for that, seems reasonable. One other thing that I expect is that one of two things will happen: 1. Hellguns will be a point-costed upgrade over normal stormtroopers ( this would be a bump up to 12 points a guy) OR, they will lose the ability to have more than one special weapon in thier squad. ( not a huge loss, in my oppinion) What do you guys think of this line of thought?

Stormtroopers wont have to buy back their hellguns... It is their weapon, pretty symbolic of the Stormtrooper...

I just want a choice between hellguns and bolters for my stormies I under stand Ap 3 is fun and all that, but if your fighting somebody with almost no armour, Orks, Nids Daemons, it is a little more helpful to hit em with something that can hurt em. Though i'm gonna love hellguns mowing down Carnifexes alot really a lot MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

As far as I am aware, carnifexes don't get higher than a 3+ save. Of course, never actually played one before. Thanks nid players at my local hobby store, for failing at this.

Extended Carapace provides Carnefex's with a 2+ armour save. I am very surprised that you have not encountered that yet.

Yeah. 7 games with 3 different people, and two of them have 'fexes, but they never use them. They go for a deep striking brood lord or something. Not very sound tacticians.

Infiltrate. My bad. All kinds of stuff that enjoys getting close to my gunline. One time the brood lord and its cadre of genestealers blew themselves up killing a hellhound. Every genestealer dead, and the brood lord took a wound.

The nid player at my club runs 5 carnis and 2 tyrants, only 2 tyrants and 2 carnis are 2+ the rest are elites I think. I've got 2 cmd squads of plasma and 1 of melta for those guys now, so I can't wait for a munch of guys rapid firing Ap3 into the rest ;D

True, I understand, but the nid player at the club only fully upgrades his Heavy ones and his tyrants the others are just for smashing things and are not as upgraded, my lasguns were hurting him... I think i cause 1 wound ... And I am going to be assuming you said Toughness 7

...Because you can't actually upgrade the elite ones, as that would excede the point-cost limit for them to be 'elite' spam-fexes.
T7 is also incompatible with the spammerfex. As are most of it's weapons (it's limit is the total cost of a hellhound)

true, but if you want an Imperial Firearm that is S4, that have that already. They call it a Boltgun. I count it as a point of pride that our forces can acheive victory without such things as exploding bullets.

Willem: it doesn't truly matter that we wound them on a 5+, because of several points: 1.) drop your stormies out of a valkyrie with 2 flamers and a plasma pistol, plus hellguns. You get 7 guys with hellguns with 4 ballistic skill. that's 14 shots that hit most of the time, and you'll wound a few of them. Then, if they're in cover, they'll only get their crapy cover save as opposed to their nice 3+ power armour save. Then, with a pair of flamers, you'll most likely make 5 or 6 more wounds, which hopefully they'll fail 1 or 2, and a plasma pistol, which should kill 1. Imperial Guard wiping whole squads of marines would be so unfluffy it wouldn't be funny. But stormies dropping from a valkryie and slaughtering nearly half the squad is a plus in my book, not to mention the 2 heavy bolters, 2 5" blast marker frag missiles, and a twin linked multi-laser from the valkyrie. S3 doesn't matter, because with enough shots you can kill anything

Amen to that!
I never saw Str 3 as a bad thing. Just get more of it, I say. The more the merrier with the guard. But the great thing is with a Valk is you drop behind their all to perfect cover, killing even more marines. Yay!!!
